To make the application process easier to understand, here are the simplified eligibilities and details of the benefit.

Application start date

  • being sick with COVID-19covid 19
  • getting individual medical treatment for mental health reasons related to COVID-19covid 19

    • sick with COVID-19covid 19 or have symptoms of COVID-19covid 19
    • self-isolating due to COVID-19covid 19 on the advice of a medical practitioner or other specified authority

How to calculate the benefit amount you will be receiving:

For each eligible employee that has eligible paid leave, the employer can claim a reimbursement of maximum $200/day for up to 3 days.

Here is an example. Jack is a busboy at a restaurant with a wage of $14.25/hour. He normally works 5 days a week for 6 hours a day. Jack decided to book a day off to take his second vaccine. After the second does, he experienced a side effect and had to take two more days off. His employer paid him for these 3 days the amount as he would have worked, which was $14.25 x 6 hs x 3 days = $256.5. This is the amount of reimbursement the employer may claim.
